Biography

Colleen Murphy is the Roger and Stephany Joslin Professor of Law at the University of Illinois College of Law and serves as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. With courtesy appointments in Philosophy and Political Science, Murphy has contributed significantly to the fields of moral, political, and legal theory, focusing on themes of political reconciliation and transitional justice. She has authored influential works such as 'Conceptual Foundations of Transitional Justice' and 'Moral Theory and Political Reconciliation' published by Cambridge University Press. Murphy co-edited significant texts like 'Technology and Equality' and has produced over 70 peer-reviewed articles across various reputable journals. In her academic career, she has held positions such as Director of the Women, Gender, and Global Perspectives Program and was a Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Murphy's work has garnered multiple awards, including the North American Society for Social Philosophy Book Award.
