Biography

Shelyn Akari Yamakami earned dental master’s degrees from State University of Maringá and a PhD in Sciences from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. Her academic work bridges clinical innovation, dental materials, and education. Yamakami’s research includes a patent application for a product addressing dental demineralization and hypersensitivity, as well as developed curricular approaches that integrate artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to enhance patient care in dental education. Her contributions have been recognized with the DMG Award from the Brazilian Society for Dental Research, an honorable mention from the Brazilian Association of Dental Education, and an Education Innovation Grant from HSDM for integrating AI in clinical practice. Focused on minimally invasive therapies, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and educational innovation, Yamakami is dedicated to translating research into practical solutions that advance dentistry and improve patient outcomes.
