Biography

Jamey Weichert is a Professor of Radiology and holds affiliate positions in Medical Physics and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1980 and completed his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Michigan in 1985. Since joining the University of Wisconsin in 1998, Weichert has been instrumental in establishing the University's small animal cellular molecular imaging center. Before his tenure at Wisconsin, he was a member of the Radiology faculty at the University of Michigan from 1985 to 1998. Weichert founded Cellectar, LLC in Madison in 2003, which focuses on developing therapeutic oncology agents. His research interests include the design and development of molecular contrast imaging agents for a wide range of applications, including diagnostic imaging and the development of radiopharmaceuticals for therapeutic use in oncology. He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and is a co-inventor on more than 20 issued and pending patents, serving as a co-investigator and principal investigator on NIH and corporate grants. Weichert was awarded the Elliot Lasser Award for his presentation at the 2003 International Contrast Media Research Meeting and has served as a reviewer for various peer-reviewed journals.
