Dr. Robert Hockett

Biography

Robert Hockett joined the Cornell Law Faculty in 2004. His main teaching, research, and writing interests are in the fields of organizational, financial, and monetary law and economics, both positive and normative, as well as their national and transnational dimensions. His guiding concern in these fields is the legal and institutional prerequisites for a prosperous and sustainable economic order. Hockett is a Fellow at the Century Foundation and a regular commissioned author for the New America Foundation. He also engages in consulting work for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the International Monetary Fund, Americans for Financial Reform, the 'Occupy' Cooperative, and various federal, state, and local legislators and governments. Prior to his doctoral work and academic career, he worked with the International Monetary Fund and clerked for the Honorable Deanell Reece Tacha, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He holds a B.A., J.D. from the University of Kansas, an M.A. from Oxford University, an LL.M., and a J.S.D. from Yale Law School.
