Dr. Pu Yu

Assistant Professor

Biography

Pu Yu is a Courant Instructor at New York University, having completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics in 2024 under the supervision of Scott Sheffield. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Peking University in 2019. Yu's research focuses on probability theory, with a particular interest in random geometry. He is actively working on the Schramm-Loewner Evolution, random planar maps, and Liouville quantum gravity. His substantial contributions to the field are reflected in several publications and preprints, many of which are co-authored with leading researchers. Yu has delivered numerous talks at prestigious seminars and conferences, showcasing his expertise in statistical physics and random surfaces. In addition to his research, he is involved in teaching various mathematics courses at NYU, where he engages students with theoretical concepts of probability and analysis. His work continues to push the boundaries of understanding in probability theory and its applications to quantum gravity and geometry.
