Biography

Edward Beckwith is a nationally recognized expert in counseling high-net-worth families and charities. He serves as a national leader in BakerHostetler's tax-exempt organizations and charitable giving practice. Edward's extensive experience includes the legal and administrative specialties required to establish and successfully guide the operations of charitable educational organizations and healthcare institutions. He advises families and family offices on tax-efficient accumulation, management, and distribution of personal wealth, providing guidance on governance best practices and maintaining tax-exempt status. A significant aspect of Edward's practice involves applying tax laws to family business financial arrangements and preparing related documents to conserve and transfer wealth. He represents clients at legislative, judicial, and regulatory levels of government. Throughout his professional career, Edward has lectured extensively in the United States and has published numerous articles and speeches for the American Law Institute and the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). He has chaired continuing education programs for private wealth professionals and is an adjunct tax professor at Georgetown University Law Center, where he has taught for 36 years and currently coordinates a graduate-level certificate program in Advanced Estate and Charitable Planning.
