Darryl W. Cunningham graduated from Shippensburg University in 1981 with a B.S. in education. After four years of teaching, he attended Penn State Dickinson Law and was awarded the Joseph Leyburn Kramer Award. From 1988 to 2007, Attorney Cunningham practiced law in Pennsylvania, representing clients in domestic matters, criminal offenses, bankruptcy, landlord-tenant issues, and civil litigation. With over 30 years of experience, he has handled family law and criminal defense jury trials. Cunningham has also been active in community affairs in both Pennsylvania and Virginia. He has been recognized for his pro bono efforts by the York County, Pennsylvania Bar Association. In 2007, he transitioned from private practice to serve as a senior staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia, where he supervised the Family Law Clinic and the Domestic Violence Clinic at the William & Mary School of Law. During his time there, he managed over 3,000 cases for low-income clients, with more than 800 involving domestic violence. He has received multiple honors from William & Mary Law School, including the St. George Tucker Adjunct Professorship Award for outstanding service as a member of the Law School’s adjunct faculty. Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Virginia, Attorney Cunningham has contributed significantly to legal education and advocacy.
