Matthew J. Connelly is a professor of history at Columbia University's Data Science Institute, where he specializes in international and global history. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Columbia in 1990 and went on to earn his Ph.D. from Yale in 1997. His research encompasses a wide range of topics within global history, including studies on social and economic policies. Connelly’s notable publications include 'Diplomatic Revolution: Algeria’s Fight for Independence' and 'Fatal Misconception: The Struggle to Control World Population.' He has also contributed articles to prominent journals such as 'Comparative Studies in Society and History' and the 'American Historical Review.' In addition to his research, he directs a dual master's program in international and global history at the Hertog Global Strategy Initiative and chairs a University Seminar on Big Data and Digital Scholarship.
