Biography

Cheryl R. Dennison Himmelfarb is a distinguished nurse scientist and Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, where she also serves as Vice Dean for Research. Her research focuses on cardiovascular health equity and patient engagement, particularly within diverse populations. Dr. Himmelfarb has made significant contributions to national guidelines and scientific statements through her involvement with the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology. She is known for her leadership in the community engagement alliance initiative that tests strategies for increasing participation in research among underrepresented groups. Dr. Himmelfarb has developed innovative recruitment methods that leverage informatics and community-based approaches to facilitate participation in research studies. As Deputy Director of the Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, she oversees a broad portfolio of research initiatives aiming to enhance faculty competitiveness and ensure compliance with ethical standards. Dr. Himmelfarb is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of nurse scientists and fostering research that addresses health disparities in cardiovascular care.
