Gary J. Simson is a Professor Emeritus at Cornell Law School, having joined the faculty in 1980 and served until 2006. He held various administrative roles at Cornell, including Associate Dean of Faculty Development and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. In 2006, he became the Dean and the Joseph C. Hostetler-Baker & Hostetler Professor of Law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, a position he held until 2010. Simson then took on the role of Dean at Mercer University School of Law, where he holds the Macon Chair in Law. Throughout his career, he has taught courses in Constitutional Law, Conflict of Laws, and has been involved in a Religious Liberty Clinic. His scholarship in constitutional law has focused on pivotal issues such as school vouchers, Supreme Court appointments, and the intersection of religion with the death penalty and single-sex schools. Simson is also the author of a leading casebook in conflict laws and has written numerous articles on these topics. He graduated from Yale Law School, where he was an editor of the Yale Law Journal, and he began his teaching career at the University of Texas School of Law.
