Biography

Roslyn M. Seitz is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at the University of California, Davis. With over 16 years of clinical experience, Seitz is a double board-certified family and emergency nurse practitioner who provides care through the Innovative Nurse-Led Mobile Clinic (IN-LMC). Her professional journey includes significant involvement in nursing education for 16 years, and she has a keen interest in public health, particularly in infectious diseases. Seitz's research includes her master’s thesis that examined the effects of pneumococcal vaccination on herd immunity in South Africa. She has spent 13 years working in urban emergency departments in Atlanta, focusing on improving clinical practices related to prescribing and home diagnostics during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her work has emphasized quality improvement in urban settings, specifically regarding sepsis, antibiotic utilization, and educating patients during opioid discharge. Seitz has also explored the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare workers, including aspects of burnout, stress, and the effects of personal protective equipment and racism. She is dedicated to teaching with a patient-centered approach, particularly in underserved populations and addressing social determinants of health.
