Biography

Jacob Napieralski is a Professor of Geology and the Director of the Environmental Interpretive Center at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University and specializes in various aspects of environmental science and geology. His research interests focus on Urban Stream Network Analysis, Paleo-Environment Reconstructions, and the impact of urbanization on environmental health, particularly in relation to walkability and nutritional access. Alongside his teaching responsibilities, he emphasizes field-based learning and geospatial technology in environmental science. His contributions to academia are recognized through several awards, including the U.S. Fulbright Scholarship for Cyprus in 2012 and the UM-Dearborn Distinguished Teaching Award in 2011.
