Meredith D. Clark is an associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill affiliated with the School of Journalism & Media. Her research predominantly focuses on race, media, and power, with particular interests in online community building, activism, and how news media covers Black communities. Clark's forthcoming book, 'Tried to Tell Y’all: Black Twitter Digital Counternarratives' is set to be published by Oxford University Press in January 2025 and has been recognized as one of the New York Times's 'Top 5 Recommended Reads.' Throughout her career, her work has appeared in notable journals such as New Media & Society and Communication & Public, and she has contributed to various panels and documentaries highlighting the significance of Black Twitter and digital activism. With a background in journalism, she has served as an editorial board member and has been actively involved in initiatives aimed at increasing diversity within newsrooms. Clark has also held leadership roles in academic associations, including serving as past chair of the Commission on the Status of Women in the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). In recognition of her contributions to the field, she is a Faculty Fellow at Data & Society and a Rebooting Fellow at the Berkman Klein Institute for Internet & Society.
