Biography

David Craig is an Associate Professor at USC Annenberg and a Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center. He is recognized as a pioneer in the field of creator studies, focusing on the mapping of the global rise of competing platform systems that afford entrepreneurs the means to organize online communities and secure economic, socio-cultural, and political power. Craig has had a distinguished career as a television producer and has been responsible for producing 30 films and series that garnered 70 Emmy nominations. He has served as a Global Fulbright Scholar and was previously a visiting scholar at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Institute of Cultural Creative Industries. His academic contributions include analysis using Foucauldian perspectives on creator functions and the implications of race, class, and gender in the creator economy.
