Biography

Ebru Ustundag is an Associate Professor in Geography Tourism Studies at Brock University, where she serves as a core faculty member in the MA Social Justice and Equity Studies program. She has been recognized for her contributions to the field, including serving on the executive boards of several organizations, such as the Graphic Medicine International Collective and the Canadian Association of Health Humanities. Ustundag's scholarly work focuses on various intersecting themes, including Urban Geography, Citizenship Studies, Feminist Geographies, and Health. Her research delves into Emotional and Affective Geographies, exploring the lives and spaces of marginalized communities. Ustundag is particularly noted for her work on the microgeographies of street-level sex workers and continues to research issues related to social citizenship and graphic narratives in the context of trauma and social justice. She has published articles and contributed to edited volumes within her areas of expertise, reflecting on critical geographies and the experiential dimensions of urban life. In addition to her academic role, Ustundag actively supervises numerous graduate students whose research addresses a range of contemporary societal issues.
