Lauren Fine is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Duke University School of Law, where she serves as the inaugural supervising attorney for the Criminal Defense Clinic. Joining the Duke Law faculty in July 2023, Lauren also holds a partnership with the Stoneleigh Visiting Fellow at the Quattrone Center for Fair Administration of Justice at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. She is a nationally recognized leader in youth justice reform and is the co-founder and immediate past co-director of the Youth Sentencing & Reentry Project (YSRP) based in Philadelphia. Her work aims to reform the juvenile and adult justice systems, advocating for the rights of young individuals often labeled as 'juvenile lifers.' Recognized as an Echoing Green Fellow and with other prestigious awards, Lauren has contributed significantly to the field, including serving on the Advisory Board for YSRP. Before her current role, she was a Zubrow Fellow at the Juvenile Law Center, focusing on juvenile life sentences and their repercussions. A Yale University graduate with a degree in History and International Studies, she earned her JD from Duke University School of Law. Lauren previously worked as a research assistant and project manager at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.
