Niva Elkin-Koren is a Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University and currently holds the position of Stewart Judy Colton Professor at Tel Aviv University. Her research is centered at the intersection of law and information technology, specifically focusing on governance related to Artificial Intelligence (AI). She examines how large language models challenge existing legal frameworks, particularly in areas such as regulating personalized pricing and governing access to data while addressing the complexities of copyright allocation concerning generative AI. Elkin-Koren studies the interplay of AI tools with social institutions and legal procedures, investigating critical issues of explainability, transparency, and accountability within generative platforms. She holds an LL.B. from Tel Aviv University, an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, and a JSD from Stanford Law School. Before joining Tel Aviv University, she served as the Dean of the Law Faculty at the University of Haifa and was the founding director of the Center for Cyber, Law and Policy as well as the Haifa Center for Law & Technology.
