Jonathan "Jay" Koehler holds a PhD in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Chicago. His research interests focus on behavioral decision theory, quantitative reasoning, courtroom applications, forensic science, and behavioral finance. Before joining Northwestern in 2010, he was a professor at Arizona State University and the University of Texas at Austin, where he served as a University Distinguished Teaching Professor. Koehler has also held visiting scholar positions at Harvard University and Stanford University. His expertise includes application of quantitative reasoning in legal contexts and the assessment of error rates in forensic science. He has contributed significantly to the field of law and statistics through various publications, including works on error rates in forensic identification and behavioral finance concepts. His teaching and research have been recognized for their impact on legal practices and understanding of cognitive biases in decision-making.
