Robert O. Carpenter is a Clinical Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and a specialist in advanced laparoscopy and bariatric surgery. He earned his MD from Baylor College of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from Vanderbilt University, where he focused on quality improvement in infection control and medical education policy. Dr. Carpenter completed a clinical fellowship in bariatric surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after his residency. He has significant experience in the field, having served as director of the Bariatric Minimally Invasive Surgery Education and associate director of the General Surgery Residency at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. He has also expanded bariatric services within the healthcare system across Central Texas and advocates for access to safe surgical care. His interests include traditional Irish and Scottish music, hunting, hiking, and sports, especially Aggie athletics.
