Biography

Dariusz Jemielniak is a Full Professor at Kozminski University and a Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. With a strong background in the open collaboration movement, he explores digital society dynamics, including topics such as vaccine misinformation and climate change denial. Over the years, Jemielniak has gained extensive experience through visiting positions at prestigious institutions like Cornell University, MIT, and UC Berkeley. His research focuses on qualitative and quantitative methods in digital society, examining peer-to-peer production, online cooperatives, and meme culture. He co-authored 'Collaborative Society' and has published works including 'Common Knowledge? Ethnography of Wikipedia' with Stanford University Press, and 'Thick Big Data' with Oxford University Press. In addition to his academic pursuits, he is an entrepreneur and has co-founded several initiatives, including InstaLing and RunPixie, alongside serving as a vice president of the Polish Academy of Sciences. As a council member of the Ig Nobel Prize, he engages with the lighter side of academia, ensuring it doesn't take itself too seriously while tackling significant research questions.
