Biography

Roberta Hines is a professor of anesthesiology at Yale School of Medicine and the Nicholas M. Greene Professor of Anesthesiology. With a focus on cardiac anesthesia and critical care, she oversees a team that provides care to 70,000 patients each year. Her clinical responsibilities include managing anesthesia and pain for surgeries, as well as overseeing the pain management clinic at Smilow Cancer Hospital. Dr. Hines emphasizes the importance of integrating science with patient care and maintaining active ties to her community. She has been influential in promoting research to improve patient care, particularly concerning the brain's capacity to clear toxins related to anesthesia. A graduate of Dartmouth College, she completed her medical training at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she also served as a resident and fellow.
