Biography

A.C. Viré is a Full Professor in Floating Wind Energy at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology. He serves as the head of the Department 'Flow Physics Technology' and is the Scientific Director of the Floating Renewables Lab. His current research involves leading a team of PhD candidates and post-doctoral researchers working on numerical modelling, experimental testing, and system design for floating offshore wind turbine farms. He has expertise in fluid-structure interactions, multi-fluid problems, aeroelasticity, and turbulent flows. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium, and earned his Ph.D. in computational fluid mechanics in 2010. Before joining TU Delft, he worked as a Research Fellow at Imperial College London for three years. Viré is passionate about promoting science to the general public and developing activities in wind and marine renewable energies. He is involved in several significant research projects funded by NWO and the European Union aimed at advancing offshore renewable technologies.
