Biography

A.L. Steiner is an artist and educator whose works encompass photography, video, installation, collage, and performance, often reflecting a sensibility that is skeptical, queer, and ecofeminist. Steiner's artistic practice includes collaborations with other artists and curators, notably as a collective member of Chicks Speed, co-curator of Ridykeulous, and co-founder of Working Artists Greater Economy (W.A.G.E.). Steiner's work has been featured in various notable collections, including the Brooklyn Museum, the Marieluise Hessel Collection, and the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. Additionally, Steiner has served as a faculty member at Bard College in New York and has held visiting faculty positions at Virginia Commonwealth University. Through the integration of diverse mediums and collaborative approaches, Steiner's work challenges conventional narratives, fostering dialogue around identity and experience within contemporary art.
