Biography

A.R. Elangovan is a Professor in Organizational Behaviour at the Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria, since 1992. He has served as Associate Dean from 2008 to 2011 and director of Gustavson International from 2003 to 2022. Appointed Associate Vice President for Global Engagement in September 2022, he focuses on enhancing the university's global presence. His research interests include understanding the deep fulfillment people find in their work lives, authenticity, meaning in work, wisdom in organizational contexts, and managerial dispute intervention and negotiation. Professor Elangovan has published extensively in leading management journals, addressing topics such as the pursuit of successful academia, trustworthiness in leadership, and the callings within organizational behaviour. He has received numerous accolades including the University of Victoria Alumni Award for Teaching Excellence, the 3M National Teaching Fellowship, and the designation of Distinguished Professor. His impactful teaching includes courses such as Managing People and Organizations, Strategic International Negotiations, and Conflict Management. Apart from his academic duties, he actively engages in providing executive training and consulting services across the public and private sectors in Canada, Europe, and Asia.
