Biography

Violinist Aaron Berofsky has toured extensively throughout the United States and abroad, gaining wide recognition as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras in the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Canada. Among his notable achievements is the complete cycle of Mozart's violin sonatas performed at the International Festival Deia in Spain, as well as appearances in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and the Corcoran Gallery. Berofsky's acclaimed recordings are found on labels like Sony and New Albion. Since 1992, he has been a violinist with the Chester String Quartet, recognized as one of the country's young string quartets. His collaborations span a range of distinguished artists and encompass a variety of significant projects, including complete cycles of quartets by Beethoven and Dvorak. A graduate of the Juilliard School, he has studied under prominent teachers and is dedicated to teaching, serving as a professor of violin at the University of Michigan. Berofsky's interest in early music has led him to perform with the Tafelmusik chamber orchestra and he has worked extensively with leading composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Additionally, he has served as concertmaster for various symphonies and continues to perform regularly at festivals across North America and Europe.
