Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Aaron Bowman. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Aaron Bowman is a Professor and Head of the School of Health Sciences at Purdue University, as well as a member of the Purdue Institute for Integrative Neuroscience. His research focuses on neurotoxicology, utilizing a combination of molecular genetics, pharmacology, biochemistry, and developmental biology to investigate gene-environment interactions related to metal exposure and neurodegenerative diseases. His lab employs a diverse range of model systems, including patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), neuronal cultures, and mouse models, to define the mechanisms of neuronal dysfunction and the basis of selective neuropathology. Over the past decade, Bowman has established protocols for generating iPSC lines and differentiating them into neural lineages. His long-term goal is to utilize a personalized medicine approach to explore patient-specific toxicant vulnerabilities and develop neuroprotective strategies against environmental disease etiologies. He has completed culturally aware mentoring training and has been recognized as an Outstanding New Environmental Scientist by the NIH/NIEHS.
