Aaron Hernandez is an Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph’s School of Environmental Design and Rural Development. His research investigates how landscapes inform relationships with cultural values, socioecological systems, and public policy, with a particular focus on regional urbanization and climate adaptation. Aaron's work has been featured in Landscape Architecture Magazine and he has exhibited at the 2022 Toronto Biennial Art. He has received the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture award and is recognized by the Landscape Architecture Canada Foundation. Furthermore, Aaron has been awarded the Landscape Architecture Foundation Fellowship for Innovation in Leadership for the term 2024-2025. Prior to joining the University of Guelph, he was an Associate at Reed Hilderbrand in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he led and worked on a wide range of commissions including projects at the National Mall, Tidal Basin Ideas Lab, National Arboretum, American Museum of Natural History, therapeutic gardens at Massachusetts General Hospital, and initiatives at the University of Maryland. He holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor’s degree in English Rhetoric and Professional Writing from the University of Waterloo.
