Biography

Aaron Johnson is a professor in the College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University with a focus on designing intelligent interactions between robots and their environments. His research interests span several areas including novel robot design, behavior design, controller design, platform design, dynamic transitions, contact, physics-based planning, bio-inspired robotics, robot vision, actuator modeling, and robot ethics. He has held postdoctoral and research positions in renowned labs, including the Personal Robotics Lab at CMU and has been recognized with multiple awards including the NSF CAREER Award in 2020 and the Young Investigator Award from the Army Research Office in 2019. His contributions to the field and his innovative work with robotics have garnered media attention and numerous accolades throughout his career.
