Dr. Aaron Nsakanda

Biography

Aaron Nsakanda is an Associate Professor at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University. He has been a faculty member since 2001, specializing in supply chain management, operations management, and management science. His expertise lies in mathematical modeling and discrete event simulations, which serve as a quantitative basis for making optimal operational decisions. Dr. Nsakanda's research focuses on the intersection of theoretical and applied research in supply chain management, employing a variety of quantitative modeling methodologies to address real-world operational challenges. He has extensive experience working with various industries, including the airline sector, where he served as a Senior Operations Research consultant, contributing to projects such as the Aeroplan loyalty reward program. His work in health care uses simulation modeling to understand workflow changes within hospitals. Dr. Nsakanda is actively involved in professional societies, including the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS), and the Society for Computer Simulation (SCS). He is also a member of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) and participates in high-level discussions to shape research objectives within the aviation industry through the Aviation Think Tank at Concordia University.
