Biography

Aaron Reinke is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on the intersection of bioinformatics and computational biology, with a particular emphasis on host-pathogen interactions. Through his work, he investigates microsporidia, an intriguing group of fungal-related intracellular pathogens that possess the smallest known eukaryotic genomes. The Reinke lab employs an integrative approach that combines genetic, bioinformatic, and biochemical techniques to study these organisms using C. elegans as a tractable animal host. In addition, his work encompasses various disciplines such as epigenetics, evolution, immunology, and drug discovery. Dr. Reinke has also been recognized for his contributions to the field, receiving the Sloan Research Fellowship in 2019 for his work in computational and evolutionary molecular biology.
