Biography

Aaron B. Wagner is a professor and Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellow at Cornell University's School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He served as the Associate Director of the school from 2021 to 2023. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, followed by postdoctoral research at the Coordinated Science Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Professor Wagner has been recognized with several awards, including the NSF CAREER award and teaching awards at various levels at Cornell. He is a Fellow of IEEE and has held the position of president of the IEEE Information Theory Society, with ongoing contributions to the field. His research focuses on the intersection of information theory, machine learning, networking, statistics, queueing theory, and security, with particular interest in data compression, generative modeling, and feedback communication.
