Abbas Samani received his B.Sc. degree from Amirkabir University of Technology and M.Sc. degree from the University of Tehran. He then obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo. Throughout his career, he has held post-doctoral fellowship research associate positions at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. In 2003, he joined Western University, where he currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and holds a joint faculty position in the Department of Medical Biophysics. He is also a core faculty member of Western’s Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program and an Associate Scientist at the Imaging Research Laboratories of the Robarts Research Institute. Dr. Samani's research interests focus on the application of computer modeling to biological tissue, specifically in the fields of medical imaging, intervention, and image analysis.
