Biography

Abbas Samani received his B.Sc. degree from Amirkabir University of Technology and an M.Sc. degree from the University of Tehran. He later completed his Ph.D. at the University of Waterloo. Before joining Western University in 2003, he held post-doctoral fellowship research associate positions at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University. He also holds a joint faculty position in the Departments of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Medical Biophysics and is a core faculty member of Western’s Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program. Additionally, he serves as an Associate Scientist at the Imaging Research Laboratories of the Robarts Research Institute. His research focuses on biological tissue computer modeling, applications in medical imaging, intervention, and image analysis.
