Dr. Abdel Salam Niazy

Biography

Abdel-Salam Niazy is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Practice at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. With a doctoral degree from the University of Southern California in Civil Engineering, he has a prominent career as a technical leader in the Strategic Space Systems Sector at Northrop Grumman Corporation. His expertise includes flight hardware design, analysis, and testing across numerous premier national space programs, including the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) program and NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). Niazy has authored over 15 publications and is a registered professional civil engineer with experience as a senior member of technical staff at Aerospace Corporation and Boeing Company. He is recognized for his significant contributions to areas like shock and vibration analysis, nonlinear finite element analysis, and innovative computational engineering methods. Niazy has received numerous awards, including the NASA Silver Achievement Medal, and is actively involved in shaping industry standards in flight hardware qualification. His ongoing research interests encompass artificial intelligence applications in dynamic systems, aerospace hardware qualification, and advanced modeling techniques for composite structures.
