Dr. Abdelhakim Hafid

Biography

Abdelhakim Senhaji Hafid is a full professor at the Université de Montréal, serving as the director of the Communication Networks Laboratory and the Montreal Blockchain Lab. He is also a researcher at CIRRELT (Interuniversity Research Centre on Enterprise Networks, Logistics, and Transport) in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Hafid has published over 250 papers in journals and conferences and holds three patents. He has supervised the research of 50 graduate students. Before joining the Université de Montréal, he spent several years as a research director at Bell Communications Research (Bellcore), New Jersey, USA, where he worked on major research projects related to emerging network management, including wireless and optical networks. During his tenure at Bellcore, he received several recognition awards and represented Bellcore in the IEEE 802 standards organization. He has also been an assistant professor at the University of Western Ontario, director of the Advanced Communication Engineering Center, researcher at CRIM, guest researcher at GMD-Fokus in Germany, and visiting professor at the University of Evry in France. Dr. Hafid's extensive experience encompasses both academic research and industrial applications in the management and design of emerging networks and distributed systems.
