Dr. Abdol Reza Mansouri

Biography

Abdol-Reza Mansouri is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Queen's University. He coordinates graduate studies within the department. Mansouri holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and has completed both his M.Sc. and B.Eng. at McGill University. His research interests primarily include sub-Riemannian geometry, focusing on the analytical aspects of hypoelliptic heat kernels and their short-time asymptotics. He also explores geometric control theory, specifically the topological challenges in realizing control objectives. His studies often integrate stochastic analysis techniques and Malliavin calculus. Mansouri's work addresses fundamental problems in sub-Riemannian geometry, including regularity of length-minimizing curves and the behavior of random walks on sub-Riemannian manifolds. He is continuously seeking well-prepared M.Sc. and Ph.D. students interested in pure and applied mathematics, particularly in sub-Riemannian geometry and nonlinear geometric control theory.
