Dr. Abdolmohammad Kazemipur

Biography

Abdolmohammad Kazemipur is a Professor of Sociology and the Chair of Ethnic Studies at the University of Calgary. He previously held the Social Science Scholar Research Chair at the University of Lethbridge and served as the Stephen Jarislowsky Chair in Culture Change Immigration at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is the founding Academic Director of the Research Data Centres at both the University of Lethbridge and Memorial University. His research focuses on the socio-economic experiences of immigrants in Canada and the socio-cultural developments in the Middle East. Kazemipur writes in both English and Persian, and his commentaries have been published in notable newspapers such as Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, and Vancouver Sun. He participates in various university strategic initiatives and teaches courses in social statistics, classical sociological theory, and race and ethnicity.
