Abdoulaye Diakite is a Casual Academic at the University of New South Wales in the Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture. He leads the Digital Twins research and development focus at the Geospatial, Research, Innovation Development (GRID) lab, specializing in 3D indoor modeling and the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). He obtained his MSc in Computer Sciences from the University of Burgundy in 2012 and completed his PhD in computational geometry at LIRIS Lab of the University of Lyon 1 in 2015. Before joining UNSW, he was part of the 3D Geoinformation group at Delft University of Technology from 2015 to 2018, contributing to projects such as SIMs3D, which provided smart indoor systems for emergency responders, and the GeoBIM project aimed at defining practices for integrating BIM and GIS models to enhance spatial analysis. He is also an active member of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and is co-leading the development of the IndoorGML standard.
