Biography

Dr. Abdul Saied Calvino is an Assistant Professor of Surgical Oncology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. He has a special interest in minimally invasive colon-rectal surgery and hepato-biliary pancreatic surgery and treats a full spectrum of general surgery conditions. Dr. Calvino completed his surgical internship and residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, gaining significant exposure to minimally invasive techniques for gastrointestinal and hepato-biliary surgery. He then completed a two-year ACGME-accredited fellowship in Complex Surgical Oncology at Roger Williams Medical Center. As a board-certified General Surgeon, he is part of a select group of surgeons currently board eligible in Complex Surgical Oncology. Dr. Calvino has dedicated research time to investigating inflammatory pathways in pancreatic cancer and has been awarded for his research presentations at the Rhode Island Chapter American College of Surgery research forum. His clinical research focus includes quality outcomes research and disparities in cancer care. He is the author of multiple peer-reviewed articles and is a member of several scientific societies including the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
