Biography

Abdullah Al Arif is an internationally experienced researcher specializing in ocean governance law. He completed his PhD in Law at Macquarie University, where he was awarded the International Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship in 2019. He holds both an LLB and LLM from Dhaka University in Bangladesh and an LLM from South Asian University in New Delhi, India, and has received a gold medal for securing the top position in his class. Dr. Al Arif completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Yokohama City University, Japan, funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) from 2021 to 2023. He has been a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy since 2020 and started teaching various public law courses at Macquarie Law School in 2016. His previous role was as a Senior Research Assistant at Queensland University of Technology from July 2019 to June 2020. His publication record includes several high-quality research articles in internationally ranked journals and a monograph titled 'Sustainable Fisheries Management in International Law: Marine Fisheries in Bangladesh and the Bay of Bengal', published by Routledge in December 2021. Dr. Al Arif has received multiple awards for his research contributions and is an active member of several prominent legal organizations.
