Dr. Abeer Hassoun

Biography

Abeer Hassoun, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University, specializing in Pediatric Endocrinology. She is dedicated to addressing the physical and mental well-being of children and adolescents. Her clinical interests have focused on complex cases involving growth failure, obesity, and the endocrine effects of childhood cancer. Dr. Hassoun's training includes a residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism. She actively engages in clinical research, funded by the New York Empire Clinical Investigator Program, aimed at understanding metabolic changes in children exposed to diabetes in utero. Her work also encompasses significant projects at Columbia's Center for Children’s Environmental Health, where she investigates the impacts of air pollution and endocrine disruptors on metabolism. As an educator, Dr. Hassoun is passionate about teaching pediatric endocrinology to fellows, residents, and medical students, intertwining her roles as a physician and educator to inspire the next generation in the field of pediatric medicine and endocrinology.
