Biography

Abha R. Gupta obtained a BS in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University and earned her MD and PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her residency in General Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, followed by a clinical fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at the same institution and Yale School of Medicine. Her clinical research interests include autism spectrum disorder (ASD), particularly regressive conditions such as childhood disintegrative disorder (CDD). Dr. Gupta has undergone extensive postdoctoral research training focusing on genetic investigations of ASD and is currently a principal investigator examining the genetics and neurobiology of the condition, including stem cell modeling. She leads research that targets understudied populations within the spectrum, especially girls and women with late-onset severe regressive autism. Dr. Gupta collaborates closely with experts in clinical characterization, neuroimaging, and machine learning to conduct multimodal analyses that identify genotype-phenotype correlations. Her dedication to autism research is fueled by a deep respect for the families affected and the complexities of the challenges they face.
