Dr. Abhishek Cauligi

Biography

Abhishek Cauligi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, scheduled to begin in summer 2025. His research focuses on spacecraft robotic autonomy, leveraging techniques such as nonlinear optimization, machine learning, and control theory to enhance autonomous space exploration. Abhishek previously served as a Robotics Technologist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He completed his PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford University, where his work concentrated on utilizing machine learning to expedite trajectory optimization through experimental research at the International Space Station. Abhishek’s contributions significantly advance the fields of robotics and aerospace engineering by intersecting advanced technology with practical applications in space.
