Professor Dr. Abhronil Sengupta

Biography

Abhronil Sengupta is currently the Joseph R. Janice M. Monkowski Career Development Associate Professor at Pennsylvania State University in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. His research spans multiple areas including data science, artificial intelligence, electronic materials, devices, integrated circuits, and neuromorphic computing. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University, where he focused on advancing the field of neuromorphic systems and machine learning. Dr. Sengupta's recent publications concentrate on cutting-edge topics in neuromorphic computing, including studies on stochastic spiking neural networks and various novel electronic materials and devices. Throughout his career, he has been recognized with numerous awards, including the NSF CAREER Award and the IEEE Electron Devices Society Early Career Award. Dr. Sengupta is known for his contributions to understanding the interplay between traditional electronics and biologically inspired computing architectures, as well as for mentoring students in these innovative fields.
