Abigail Crites is an Assistant Professor and Fred Young Faculty Fellow in the Department of Physics at Cornell University. She received her PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Chicago in 2013 and her BS in Physics from the California Institute of Technology in 2006. Her research primarily focuses on astrophysics, investigating the early universe, and the development of instrumentation to explore cosmic phenomena. Crites's work involves the use of mm-wavelength instruments deployed on telescopes to study early galaxies, the epoch of reionization, and cosmic microwave background radiation. She is currently building the Tomographic Ionized Carbon Intensity Mapping Experiment (TIME), a mm-wavelength spectrometer designed to enhance our understanding of the universe's evolution during the epoch of reionization. In collaboration with several institutions, including ASIAA, Caltech, RIT, and the University of Arizona, Crites aims to advance measurements in cosmic microwave background studies through innovative techniques, such as [CII] intensity mapping.
