Biography

Abiodun Komolafe is a Lecturer in the Smart Electronics Materials Systems Group at the University of Southampton's School of Electronics and Computer Science. He obtained a BSc in Physics from the University of Ibadan in 2007, followed by an MSc in MicroElectroMechanical Systems with distinction in 2011, and earned his doctorate in 2016 from the University of Southampton. Abiodun's research primarily focuses on Smart Skin and the advancement of flexible printed electronics for use in free-form flexible systems across diverse industries. His work involves the development of electronic textiles for on-body biomedical applications, including wearable sensor systems for temperature and ECG monitoring. He also specializes in reliability engineering for flexible electronics to augment lifetime performance under stress conditions. Currently, Abiodun contributes to the IPC committee dedicated to establishing reliability and quality standards for electronic textiles. His research delves into harnessing the potential of 2D materials for thermoelectric energy harvesting from body surfaces.
