Dr. Abraham Nitzan

Biography

Abraham Nitzan is the Donner Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania. His research group focuses on the theoretical aspects of chemical dynamics, an important branch of chemistry that describes the nature of physical and chemical processes underlying the progress of chemical reactions. His work aims to achieve a deeper understanding of these processes and the ability to predict their evolution. In particular, Nitzan's studies explore chemical processes involving the interactions between light and matter, chemical reactions in condensed phases and interfaces, transport phenomena in complex systems, with main directions in energy transfer processes in molecular systems, molecular dynamics in condensed phases, and ionic transport in complex environments. His expertise also extends to the optical properties and photochemistry of adsorbed molecules, electron transport in molecular layers, and the classical quantum thermodynamics of energy conversion processes.
