Biography

Dr. Abubaker Sidahmed is an Assistant Professor in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Western University. He holds an MD from the University of Baghdad, an MSc from the University of Guelph, and a PhD from the University of Toronto. His work focuses on clinical immunology and immunogenetics, with a particular interest in histocompatibility and transplantation immunology. As the Division Head of Transplant Immunology, he directs the Histocompatibility Immunogenic Laboratory, where he assesses immunological risks for patient-donor pairs awaiting organ transplants and provides consultations for clinicians regarding patient-donor selection and management. Dr. Sidahmed is actively involved in research activities surrounding allotransplantation and the mechanisms of immune tolerance, particularly in relation to solid organ rejection and graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). He aims to develop and improve clinical assays to enhance the understanding and outcomes of organ transplantation.
