Dr. Aby Mitchell

Biography

Aby Mitchell is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing Education at King's College London, with an MSc in Advanced Practice (healthcare education). She has an extensive teaching portfolio in primary care, health promotion, public health, and simulation using immersive technologies. Aby began her nursing career at a local general hospital, where she initially worked in the burns and plastics department, focusing on head and neck cancer. In 1999, she transitioned to district nursing with a special interest in wound care and leg ulcer management, later becoming the Senior Physical Health Lead in Community Mental Health. Her research publications cover a wide range of topics related to tissue viability and the application of virtual reality in nurse education. She is particularly interested in the use of theatre for student education in population health, and her recent work has explored how forum theatre can promote health education among young people, as well as enhance the learning experiences of undergraduate healthcare students through drama-based approaches. Aby also serves on the editorial board of the British Journal of Nursing and contributes to various advisory panels. Her notable publications include studies on nursing practice, pressure ulcer management, and innovative educational techniques.
