Biography

Achyuta Adhvaryu is a Tata Chancellor’s Professor of Economics and the inaugural director of the 21st Century India Center at the School of Global Policy and Strategy, University of California, San Diego. He is a co-founder of Good Business Lab, a global nonprofit dedicated to improving the well-being of low-income workers. His research encompasses development economics, organizational economics, labor economics, and health economics. Before joining UC San Diego, Adhvaryu held faculty positions at the University of Michigan and Yale University. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Yale in 2009 and holds a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, awarded in 2004. His work is focused on the intersection of economic theory and its application to policy, which has significant implications for improving labor conditions and economic development.
